Is it safe to keep using Windows 10 now that support has ended?

Not for anything important. Since 14 October 2025, Windows 10 no longer gets regular security updates.

Not for anything important. Since 14 October 2025, Windows 10 no longer receives regular security updates, so newly discovered vulnerabilities stay unpatched. The PC keeps working, but it becomes a bigger risk every month.

What actually stopped

  • Regular monthly security updates
  • Feature and quality updates
  • Free technical support for the operating system

What didn’t stop

Windows 10 still boots and runs your programs. That’s why the risk is easy to ignore. Over time, some applications and browsers will also stop supporting it.

Is there a bridge?

Microsoft offered a paid Extended Security Updates program for Windows 10. It is time-limited and meant to buy time for a migration, not to replace one.

If you must keep one running

  • Keep it off email and general web browsing
  • Make sure it’s backed up
  • Plan its replacement with a date attached
